Dante-Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park

From the Fall of 2009, this is a photo of the statue of Dante in Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park. There is a great article that details the renaissance of the park here. If you've never been there its a jewel in the city. The park has beautiful fountains, several statues, and a large green space right in between U Street and Adams Morgan. There is debate over the name of the park-whether it's name is Meridian Hill or Malcolm X. Not even the city has a clear designation. Do you have an opinion?

  1. I swear I left a comment on here sometime this week, but now I cannot find it. Did a higher authority delete it?

  2. Ok, I have formed a well education opion on the name of the park, I have been to all of your links as well as a couple of my own. Merdian Hill is the name I like, mainly because I know why it was given that name and I cannot find anywhere why it is refered to as Malcolm X park. I would also be interested in a picture of the cascading fountains from here. As I read more on the state of the park it seems like a place that still might have some sketchy days.

  3. I didn't remove any posts, so unless it was the other Almighty, I can't explain where it went. Nice profile pic, by the way.

  4. Lori-you're also right about the sketchy days of the park. I went there once after dark, and that was the only time I risked that. There is a lot of evidence of drug use and public sex throughout the park, which is really too bad, because it's a great place.

  6. Meridian Hill-2
    Malcolm X-1

I think the fountain picture could be great, except for the fact that the left side is cut out. It REALLY bothers me that it is not evenly placed.
